Regardless of the topic, I want to open conversations about the elephants in the rooms of our lives. Each perspective is a valid view of the issue at hand, but it is the composite of them that reveals the true nature of the problem. That is the point. I am not here to rant. I am not here to dream. I am here to make you think. I am here to inspire you to action.
Some of my posts will be politically oriented, but I am not striving to have a political blog. I do, however, want to awaken people to the fact that politics affect everyone on some level. Your vote does matters, especially on a local level. (For example, if my husband and I would have known what day to vote, we could’ve tied the vote for the school board member hopeful and the incumbent board memb
er.)
Some of my posts will deal with ecological issues. I consider myself a supporter of responsible ecology, but I am not a political environmentalist and weigh things on a scale based upon my personal values, as everyone does. I love recycling, but I also love styrofoam cups.
While I, personally, am a dedicated Christian, do not expect an overtly religious blog. I will discuss other religions and belief systems, and though I may explain my perspective on them, I welcome information and will not shy away from topics many Christians avoid for the sake of “the appearance of evil.” I will also not get involved in pointless circular arguments about religion. I know where I stand, and I know God will hold me accountable for where I lead people. I just also believe that information and discussion is a means of sharpening my sword, not of dulling my testimony.
Some of my posts will depress you, some will anger you, and some will (hopefully) bring a ray of sunshine into a dreary day.
I believe this will accomplish two things: prompting gratitude and prompting action.
Whether the gratitude revolves around “I’m glad that’s not me” or “thank you for sharing your story,” action is what changes things. Your mental outlook in dealing with a circumstance changes, allowing you to consider actions you never thought of before, or prompts another person to action because of your perspective.
If I am successful, that thinking and inspiration will result in action, and I will have to dedicate a page to telling the world what my readers are doing!
